What is MSDNAA Registration?
Cal Poly's Information Systems Association (ISA) is registering Orfalea College of Business students with Microsoft's MSDN Academic Alliance program. The program provides a multitude of low-cost and no-charge software to students who utilize technology as part of their learning experience.
What software is available?
A complete list of available software can be found on the MSDNAA e-Academy website, which you will have access to after your registration is processed. Sample titles include: Visual Studio.NET 2003, Windows XP Professional, Project 2003, Visio 2003, Windows 2003 Server, SQL Server 2000 Professional, OneNote 2003, Commerce Server 2000, Visual FoxPro 8.0, plus many more.
Who is eligible for the software?
All students currently enrolled in the Orfalea College of Business programs are eligible to enroll in this program.
How do I obtain the software?
Once your registration is complete, you will receive an e-mail from the MSDNAA e-Academy service (within a week) which will contain your user name (your Cal Poly e-mail address), password, and a link to the e-Academy website. After you log into the e-Academy site you will be able to browse the list of available software titles.

All available titles will be distributed through a checkout system in the Orfalea College of Business computer lab (on the 3rd floor). You must reserve a CD for checkout through the e-Academy website, and then will have two days to pickup the CD, and once checked out, will have three days to install, and return the master CD. A late fee of $20 per day will be charged for each overdue title with a maximum fee of $40. Please return the discs on time. If you are not able to successfully install the program please notify the lab assistant when you return the disc and they can place you back on the reservation list.

Alternatively, for select titles you can order your own CD of the program for around $9 plus shipping and handling through the e-Academy website.

Most programs that are checked out through the lab will require a product key during the installation. The product key will be stored in the "My Software" portion of your e-Academy account.
Where can I find my product key for required during installation?
Certain programs require a product key for installation. When you reserve a title the product key will be added to your My Software list in the e-Academy website. Once logged in, click on the 'My Software' button to view a list of ordered software and the corresponding keys.

What restrictions are placed on the software?
All distributed software is the fully-functioning version. The software will not expire, and you are permitted to use it even after you graduate. You are not allowed to use the software for commerical use. Please read the End User License Agreement (EULA) for each product you obtain for additional information.
Will new software be added?
New software will be available as Microsoft releases it to program participants. New titles can only be obtained while still enrolled as a student in the Orfalea College of Business. Please check the availability list on the e-Academy website.
